Origins & Causes
1920
20.11.1920, Saturday: The German Reich (Weimar Republic) delivered a complaint to the polish foreign ministry, in which it claims that the Republic of Poland (Second Republic) violated the Minority protection protocol. The complaint included comprehensive enumerations of offenses against ethnic Germans on the basis of their ancestry in the shape of arrests, insults, harassment, sexual assault, extortion and humiliation.[1] In addition the text names border violations by polish soldiers.[2]
The complaint concludes:[3]
Die vorstehende Zusammenstellung erbringt den erdrückenden Beweis dafür, daß der Deutsche in Polen z. Z. keineswegs die feierlich zugesagte Gleichberechtigung genießt, daß er vielmehr fast überall geradezu als vogelfrei gilt.....

26.03.1939: Lipski delivers a memorandum of the Polish government to Ribbentrop, in which an extraterritorial high- and railway to East Prussia is rejected.[13] But Ribbentrop answers Lipski, that such an extraterritorial connection and the German Reich's annexation of Danzig would be the foundation of any solution of the German-Polish problem.[14]
